System Update:

All systems are functioning and the system checker is working.

Users can now go to www.webringo.com and log in with their user name in order to get new navigation bar code. The system changed the first week of January and all ring site members MUST generate and install a new style of navigation bar code.

You can also use the login boxes at the left as well to access your account, join, or add your site to our ring.

NEW MEMBERS: If you do not get your navigation bar code sent via e-mail, please log in and obtain it by accessing the MY SITES page. Contact us if you have any questions or problems.

Acceptance Criteria - Please Read:

The Naturism & Nudism Hyper Link Site is hosted at WebRingo.Com. Our Hyper Link association seeks to bring together the naturist-nudist web sites of resorts, clubs, naturist-nudist commercial ventures, and individual personal web pages, whose primary purpose is the portrayal of naturism-nudism as fostered by national membership organizations, including but not limited to, The Naturist Society (TNS), American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR), National Nudist Council of the Americas (NNC), Federation of Canadian Naturists (FCN), International Naturist Federation (INF) and its member associations, (CCBN, FKK, etc.).

Web sites whose primary focus or goal is a sexual agenda, contains sexually explicit material, maintains links to sexually explicit material, runs sexually oriented banner advertisements, or which sell images of nude people (except for legitimate naturist-nudist entrepreneurial businesses) are not accepted. Web sites whose primary purpose is the portrayal of nudity as art are also not accepted because fine art is not the same as portraying naturism-nudism as a lifestyle practice.

Web sites which are accepted for participation in this hyperlink association need not be a member of any of the aforementioned national or international organizations but should reflect naturism-nudism as a lifestyle practice and within the parameters set forth by the national organizations.

Hyperlinking Q&A

What are this association’s terms?

See above.

Top of Page

What does this cost me?

Nothing, it’s free. The Ring Manager receives no remuneration for his efforts. This is a completely voluntary service and does not guarantee any special considerations to list your web site’s placement in the ring in any special manner.

Top of Page

What are the benefits of participating?

Your web site will be linked to other sites which portray naturism / nudism similar to the way that your site does, and as fostered by the major national organizations from around the world. This assures that your web site is not mixed with sites that may contain sexually explicit materials or which otherwise promote a sexual agenda.

How does it work?

First, set up your web site. You need this in place before you ask to join the hyperlink association.

When you join the ring you will be asked to place a small piece of HTML code on your home page or links page. This code provides a navigation bar on your page that will take people to other sites in the same association. In turn, those sites that belong to the ring have the same navigation bar that will take people to your site. It’s sort of an internet “ Lazy Susan ”.

There are several options on the navigation bar.

  1. Ring Name Link - brings viewers to the Ring Index / Hub Page.
  2. Next Site - brings viewers to the next site in the ring.
  3. Random Site - brings the viewer to another site at random in the ring.
  4. Site Listings - brings viwers to a full list of member sites.
  5. (Naturist Icon Box) - brings you to this page.

What does the navigation bar look like?

There’s one at the top of this page. Its the small box with the thumbnail image next to it. There are many facets that can be customized if you know any HTML code. Otherwise it works as shown. Some tags CANNOT be changed because it can effect the navigation bar. If you are not sure, please ask first.

Do I need to do anything special?

As a part of the sign-up process you will receive a WebRingo.Com user name and password. These are free and are used by you to log in to the system to control your web site’s information in the ring. This is necessary in case you move your web site or move the association’s navigation bar code to another page at your site. You need to tell the system what page the code is on so it can properly work with your site.

During the sign-up process you list your web page’s name and web address (the URL or Universal Resource Locator) which becomes a part of the ring’s database and which is used to send people to your site and others in the ring. You are also given a small space to describe your web site which appears on the ring’s hub (index) page.

The page location of the navigation bar code and the page you tell WebRinGo.Com the code is on must match or the system will not work. If you move the navigation bar code to a different page at your site, you must also change the registered URL at WebRinGo.Com

You will also give the system a contact E-Mail address which can be used by the Ring Manager for purposes of contacting you, or your site’s webmaster or other delegate, regading important changes in how the ring works, including changes in features, additions of new features, or if the system is having a problem dealing with the navigation bar code installed on your site.

Do you place the navigation bar code on my pages for me?
Is there a time limit for me to install the navigation bar code at my site?

Your web pages are password protected at your web host and we simply cannot offer that programming service. We’d need all your passwords and that is not a good security practice. After obtaining the necessary code from the ring system, you can install that yourself using a simple text editor program or some other HTML editing tool, then upload the revised page to your web site. If your site is maintained by a web hosting company or other webmaster (individual web programmer), contact them by e-mail and send them the code to be installed on your pages or ask them to perform the task for you.

Please note that we must impose a ten (10) day limit from the time you apply to our ring for inclusion and when the navigation bar code is finally installed. This means that you should be prepared to install the navigation bar at the time you apply to join the ring, or soon thereafter. Web sites whose applications reach 10 days of age in our pending applications area and which does not have navigation bar code installed, will be deleted from the application waiting area. You are welcome to re-apply when you are able to properly install the code at your site of course.

How long will it take me to sign up?

Best guess... about 10 minutes (if that). After clicking on the sign up link above, you want to be prepared with the following info:

  1. Choose a unique user name and password for logging into the system.
  2. The URL (address) of the web page where the navigation bar’s code will be installed.
  3. The name of your web site (what you call it and how you want it displayed to others.)
  4. Your E-mail address, or contact address of who handles your web site for the Ring Manager.
  5. A short description of your web page.
  6. Some “keywords” that will help people locate your site at WebRingo.Com such as
nudist, nudism, naturist, naturism, club name, etc.

After registering, the system will send you a confirmation E-mail message.

When finished, upload the revised web page to your web site with the new code installed. You can then E-mail the site webmaster to advise you have completed this task or wait for him to review pending sites at his regular interval.

What happens when I submit my site to the ring?

Once you have joined the association, the Ring Manager will be notified of your request to participate in the ring. Your web site will be reviewed by the Ring Manager and will be either approved or disapproved. Remember it must meet the acceptance criteria above and have the navigation bar code installed.

If you are approved, you will receive an E-mail message at the address you registered notifying you that you have been formally added to the ring. If refused, will also receive a dispatch explaining why you were rejected. You may choose to correct the problems with the contents of your web page and resubmit, or remove your code fragments from your web site and depart from the ring. If there are problems with the navigation bar code on your web site, it may not properly interact with theWebRingo.Com system. If so, the Ring Manager may contact you, or if you notice a problem, contact him.

Sites are added-to and deleted-from the ring every few days to a week when the Ring Manager has time. There is no fixed schedule for these things to take place.

Top of Page

How do I leave the ring?

Reverse the process. Log in with your WebRingo.Com user ID and password and remove your site from the ring. There is a handy maintenance box on the top of this page to do everything. You can also accomplish this by removing the code fragments from your web page. When the system checker cannot find your navigation bar code it will “fail” your site and report it to the Ring Manager who may contact you to see what the problem is. At that time you can tell him you have left the ring. A “no response” from you within 10 days will be assumed to mean you have left the ring voluntarily and you will be automatically removed from the Ring database.

Can I use my own logo on the ring navigation bar?

The logo that appears within the navigation bar appears on all navigation bars equally and is generated on the WebRingo.Com end of things. If you are familiar with HTML programming it is possible to edit your own navigation bar and replace the system logo with your own. DO NOT, however, change any other code or your site may fail when checked. The Ring manager chooses this logo and may update this from time to time if people have suggestions for logo usage. You can always modify your page’s HTML code to place your own logo in the general vicinity of the navigation bar. || UPDATE - We have obtained permission to use images from Henry Yuen’s web site who supplied images to the original first nudism ring. ||

What if I see a site that does not belong in the Ring?

Please bring that site to the attention of the Ring Manager at the webmaster address. We periodically check the contents of member sites but from time to time something may get by us so we depend on viewers like yourself to tell us when something is not quite right. It is presently the sole decision of the Ring Manager as to what sites qualify for participation. On occasion, member sites may be asked to review a site seeking to participate in the Ring at which time the Ring Manager will weigh the counsel of the ring members in the decision-making process.

I have a nude site but it was rejected by the Ring Manager. Why?

Not all nudity conveys the naturist / nudist lifestyle. This is a common mistake people make when they are not naturists / nudists themselves or do not fully appreciate or understand the message that the lifestyle seeks to convey, or much simpler, they didn’t read the acceptance criteria above. There are many web sites on the internet with nude people, fine nude art, sensual or erotic images, etc. but these do not convey naturism as is practiced at naturist resorts, skinny dipping beaches, etc. Maintaining a web site with nude images does not automatically qualify you for inclusion. If you do not understand, the web sites of The Naturist Society, American Asssociation for Nude Recreation, and the Federation of Canadian Naturists should offer you some understanding. See the acceptance criteria at the top of this page. The determination of the Ring Manager is final.

I was notified that my site is “One Way” and needs to be fixed"

The objective to the ring is to allow people to surf similar web sites with similar titles or content. We assume that if you place your navigation bar code on your home page, a links page, or some subsidiary page, and that people viewing your site will have page links that can get them back to the navigation bar to continue the ring surfing experience. Just using a web browser’s “BACK” button is not enough, and under certain conditions the BACK button may not always take a person back to the page they started from. If your web site does not have a way of getting web surfers back to the navigation bar, it is taking people out of the ring experience and makes your site a ONE WAY site. Failure to correct a one way site will result in your site being suspended or deleted from the ring.

On Yahoo! Groups™, MSN Groups™ Message Boards requiring login and password, adult warning entry screens, etc.

In order to assure that the hyperlinked sites are always working, we run a checker program to make sure your navigation bar code is properly installed and working. The system checker can only access web pages that are publicly accessible. If your pages require a user login (such as with MSN or Yahoo Groups discussion boards), or your naturist / nudist site is behind an adult warning screen (such as some Yahoo Groups), the system checker cannot determine if your code is installed and working. Because YOU are logged in, you may see working code on those pages but non-members reaching your site would be faced with a dead end, and the continuity of the ring is broken. As such we cannot accept applications to this ring that are limited by user login or other passworded sites. Your navigation bar code must be on a publicly accessible page with no restrictions.

In such cases we recommend establishing an external web page that is publicly accessible. On that page you can offer a welcome message, ie; a link to your login page, and the hyperlink code.

The Ring Manager reserves the right to deny access to this ring if he cannot readily access your web pages to determine if your content matches the mission statement of this ring. This means that you may be asked to give the Ring Manager a user access code and password to assure that the contents of your site meet this association’s criteria. If we cannot validate that the contents of a site meet our criteria we reserve the right to decline your site’s participation in the ring. Questions along these lines should be directed to the Ring Manager at the address appearing on this page.

Changing URL’s, Broken Navigation Bar Code

When you join the ring, the Webringo.Com system issues you a fragment of HTML code to use on your page. If you move the navigation bar to another page at your web site, move your web page to a new hosting service or change the address in any way, you will need to also update the page address (URL) registered at WebRingo.Com. Some users make the mistake of simply copying the code from other sites already in th ering. This will not work. Each registered site has a unique ID number assigned. In such cases, the system checker will register a mismatch. Installation of navigation bar code is outlined above under the instructions for joining the ring.

Top of Page

Dealing with Frames. Dealing with Redirected pages.

When installing the navigation bar code on web pages that consist of several frames, you must specify the frame’s URL on which the navigation bar code will reside. That is, the URL registered at Webringo.Com must show the frame page address, not the top level address of your web site. While it is desirable for visitors to come to your top level page, the Webringo.Com system checker will not find the navigation bar code at that level. If that happens the system declares your hyperlink code as being “broken” or missing and will issue an error. If you specify the frame page on which the code actually is, the system checker will be able to find your page with no problems. We suggest that if the navigation bar code is on a frame page that you offer a link to the top level from there.

If your navigation bar occupies a page that redirects people to another page after a period of time, or via a link, please assure that the page to which a person is redirected also has a link back to the page where the navigation bar code resides. Without this your site may be categorized as a “One Way” site and subject to suspension from the ring.

Abandoned Pages - Invalid Contact E-Mail Address.

From time to time an individual or club may establish a web page and then abandon it for what ever reason. Also from time to time a person who manages a web site or page listed with us may need to change their e-mail address. It is also possible that a webmaster may be replaced, meaning the person who added your site to the ring is no longer available to help maintain your link with the ring. If you fail to change your contact e-mail address with us we will have no way of contacting you in the event or special updates or if a problem arises. Should this happen we will attempt to contact you via any available e-mail addresses registered with your Webringo.Com account or on your ring member web page. We do want you to link with us so we try to make the extra effort on this end. However, should a problem arise with your link to the ring and we are unable to contact anyone, or no one responds to our e-mail, we will delete your site from the ring as an abandoned site. While this is rare, we pride our ring as being made up of active and well-maintained web sites who participate in it. Abandoned pages or web sites, or sites that do not respond to e-mail detract from the concept of the ring.

Did we leave anything out?

Hopefully not, but this is a work in progress and we welcome your questions. Under normal circumstances we can usually respond within 1-2 days - less when possible.

Regarding the Older “Nudism Ring” and “Nudism & Naturism” Ring at Webring.Com

In 2006 Webring.Com began running Google banner advertisements that keyed on keywords such as nudist and naturist and in turn we started seeing adult-oriented and sexually explicit banner advertising running on our site hub / index page. Despite efforts to negotiate a fix with Webring.Com, they were unwilling to put a fix in place. As such we opted to depart that service and encourage member sites in our association to migrate to the new service.

Questions can be addressed to the Ring Manager at the above e-mail address.
